Hi,
According to the Grandchildren of Donald Campbell (d 1879 ?) they were unsure as to when or how Donald died, though they thought it was in the Glasgow or Greenock area.
He in fact died in the early hours of the 1st January 1881, fell of a bridge and run over by a train.. Death registered by his cousin Donald McFie who got Donalds wifes name wrong as he had said it was Mary McLean when in was Mary Cameron.
Mary in the 1881 census was back living on the island of Soay.
Any ideas who it was that arranged for the Headstone?
