Sacrd/to the memory of/MARGARET BIRT ROSS/te beloved wife of/JOHN SCOTT, Drynoch/who died February 4 1866/aged 30 years/also in memory of/JOHN SCOTT/born 9 May 1823/died at Newton, Cromarty 16 Dec. 1895/for 43 years tacksman of Drynoch.

"Not slothful in business; fervent/in spirit: serving the Lord."

Also/their grandson/JOHN SCOTT/of Drynoch Lodge/son of ADAM SCOTT/died Sept. 14 1947/aged 37 years.

In/loving memory/of/EMMA MUNRO SCOTT/born at Drynoch 8 Jan. 1837/and/died at Torquay 23 Aug. 1876/also of/ANDREW ROSS SCOTT who died at Drynoch/8 Oct. 1963 aged 2 years.

Having written a short history of my Great Great G/Father Walter Scott and shared it with the family I had 2 questions left to answer. Was there a family connection with John Scott who he worked for in 1850s at Gesto and why did he go to the Black Isle (Raddery Estate) in 1894/5. Your gravestone websites have answered these queries. Walter was a shepherd on Skye/in Garloch and Black Isle. 1826 -1917 a long life! One daughter Mary was married to a Macpherson and lived at 7 Ferrindonald.
