In memory of/LOUISA and KATIE/daughters of/JAMES GILLIES merchant Portree/the former died 22nd April 1881/aged 5 months/and the latter on the 16th Oct. 1891/aged 17 years/and of the above/JAMES GILIES/died 27th Feb. 1900 aged 75 years/also of his wife/MARY MACLEOD/who died 10th Oct, 1906/aged 68 years.

Probate: "Gillies, James, Merchant, Portree, died 27 February 1900, at Portree, testate. ...Inverness, 24 August, to Mary MacLeod or Gillies, Wentworth Street, Portree, his widow, and John Gillies, Clerk, National Bank of Scotland, Ltd., there, his son.... Will or Deed, dated 18 October 1899, ...at Inverness, 2 August 1900. Value of Estate, £860, 6s." [Commissary Clerk of Edinburgh under the Sheriff Courts Act, 1876.
