Flora Cameron.

Sacred/to/the memory of/FLORA CAMERON/best of wives/and best of mothers. This stone is erected/by/her sorrowing husband/JOHN CAMERON/and their/affectionate children. She died at/Kirkton Cottage, Inverness/the 15 day of February 1861/aged [58?] years.

A much clearer photo than my own! John & Flora Cameron were my 3xgreatgrandparents. The MI is somewhat unusual in that it refers to Flora by her married name, rather than her maiden name, MacLean. She was a daughter of Hector MacLean, tacksman of Vatten. The MI as given above has one error - it should read "Kirkton Cottage, Dunvegan". I must admit that when I copied the inscription in 2007, I missed the last line, giving her age. According to her death registration, and notices in newspapers (e.g.Inverness Courier, 28/2/1861), her age was 75.
Johanna Ferguson, mentioned in the MI of picture no 1867 in Edinbane, was their granddaughter, daughter of their daughter Margaret.
