Alexander Allan. Jane & Murdoch.

Erected/by/COLIN ALLAN/from Otago, N.Z./ALEXANDER ALLAN/for 38 years schoolmaster/of the parish of Duirinish/who departed this life/4th March 1852 aged 72 years/also his sister/JANE/who died 1857 aged 12 years/and his brother/MURDOCH/who died 11th July 1858/aged 2[6?] years.

Colin Allan went to N.Z. in 1856 to be a teacher, but was for many years Immigration Officer at Otago. There, in 1864, he married Marion Cameron, also from Dunvegan, youngest daughter of John & Flora Cameron of Kirkton Cottage (See gravestone 1522 for Flora). Their daughter Flora MacLean Allan became principal of Otago Girls' High School.
