A sweet young life/that promised well/we miss him/no tongue can tell.

H.M.S. 'Curacoa' sank following collision in convoy with RMS Queen Mary off N. Ireland. The liner was carrying 10, 000 American troops to Europe and, due to U-boat risk, did not stop to assist.

Some colleagues of this seaman were buried here and in Ashaig Old burial ground.
