Sartle Burial Ground

Sartle Burial Ground is next to the minor road, which crosses the Trotternish peninsula between Brogaig (Staffin) and Uig.

Further up the road is a modern cemetery, Cill a'Bhealaich, which has no pre-1979 inscriptions.

The wonderful landscape of the Trotternish escarpment gives a fine backdrop to this part of Skye.

My GGF Charles Nicolson was the son of Margaret MacDonald, whose father was Capt. Sorlie/Samuel MacDonald of Sartle, and James Nicolson, who left Duntulm for the state of Vistoria, Australia with his adult children under the HIES, in the early 1850's.
