Carbost, Trien, Bracadale..

Carbost Burial Ground, sometimes known as Trien, lies by Loch Harport, just below the minor road, which serves the Minginish peninsula. The modern cemetery is adjacent to a much older burial ground within the tres. No inscription is legible within the latter area.

I am trying to figure out if my ggg grandmother was buried at Trien in 1896. Do you know what date the earliest stones in the new cemetery might be? And exactly how ancient the old cemetery is? Are there other older cemeteries in Carbost?

Edie, the modern section appears to be post-WWII. I have no information about the date of the older section (which is a lot smaller). I could not find any inscribed stone there.

There is an old burial ground a few miles away at the head of Loch Harport at Bracadale. Eynort is also an old one over the hill from Carbost.

Thanks, Roddie. Do you know what the burial site at the head of Loch Harport is called? This is really helpful, thank you.

Is there a headstone for Donald Stewart died 1837 and buried at Eynort Cemetery, Minginish? Are there any other Stewart's buried there?

Hello, I’m trying to find a photo and inscription for my uncle.
He was Colin Tom MacDonald b1915, died 1964.
He was the Doctor in Carbost. I think that his grave is there. I have seen it but not for many years.
I’d be very grateful if you could help me

Hello Fiona

According to my notes, I needed to take another photo of his stone. I don't live on Skye, and haven't been back. I'll send the image I do have to you by email.

However, I have a note of the inscription

" COLIN MACDONALD/for 16 years/doctor in this parish/who died on 20th April 1964/aged 49 years/ I pray thee then/write me as one that loves his fellow-men."
