Cill Chriosd

Cill Chriosd is one of three burial grounds between Broadford and Elgol in the former Strath parish.

Cill Chriosd superseded the original Strath parish church at Ashaig many centuries ago.  In the mid-19thC, Cill Chriosd was replaced as the parish church by a new building in Broadford.

The lands around Strath parish were the territory of the Mackinnons, whose name is strongly represented in this burial grouind.

Comments

Is there any information about whose burial is marked with an old rough-looking wooden cross that has been repaired/tied up with some green cable in the burial ground of Cill Chriosd. There is no inscription on the cross. This burial is just to the left (when looking at the headstone inscription) of Ewen MacDonald who accidentally drowned at Dunah in 1945.
